Stove Compatibility

Gas and electric coil stoves work with all models.

Glass-top stoves: The 910, 915, 921, and 925 are suitable for glass-top stoves. The 930 and 941 are too heavy and too wide for glass-top stoves.

Weight: Typical flat-top stove weight limits are 50-60 pounds. The weights listed are empty. Add 20–30 lbs for water and jars in the 910–925, and 40–50 lbs in the 930 and 941.

Burner Fit: The canner diameter may extend beyond your burner and transfer heat to nearby surfaces — ensure adequate clearance from countertops.

Height clearance: If you're buying a 925, 930, or 941, measure from your burner up to your range hood or microwave before ordering — taller canners can be a tight fit.

Frequently Asked Questions on Canner Sizes

You need a canner that fits at least four quart jars upright — that's the USDA minimum for safe home pressure canning.

For most home canners, a 21.5-quart model like the All American 921 is ideal. It holds 7 quarts or 18 pints per load, fits on most standard stoves, and is beginner-friendly despite its capacity.

  • 910 10.5 qt — 4 quart jars / 7 pint jars
  • 915 15.5 qt — 7 quart jars / 10 pint jars
  • 921 21.5 qt — 7 quart jars / 18 pint jars (double stack)
  • 925 25 qt — 7 quart jars / 18 pint jars / 4 half-gallon jars
  • 930 30 qt — 14 quart jars / 18 pint jars (double stack)
  • 941 41.5 qt — 19 quart jars / 32 pint jars (double stack)

All American 910 — Lightest, smallest, fastest to pressurize and release. Very easy to manage for a first canning session.
All American 915 — Still lightweight and fast, with a bit more jar capacity.
All American 921 — Double-stack pints, still beginner-friendly, and the most popular model overall. Great if you want to grow into it.

Yes — in larger models. You can double-stack pint jars in the All American 921, 925, 930, and 941. A rack placed between the layers allows proper steam circulation around all jars.

The 910 and 915 are single-layer canners and do not accommodate stacking. Although all jar sizes are included in the chart only pint and quart jars have been tested and approved by the USDA for pressure canning.

Pressure canners generally range from 10.5 quarts to 41.5 quarts in liquid capacity — fitting 4 to 18 quart jars, or 7 to 32 pint jars, depending on the model.

"7 quarts" means the canner holds seven quart jars — not 7 quarts of liquid. It's a standard batch size for most home canners and represents a full load for most recipes.

Both models hold the same number of jars: 7 quart jars or 18 pint jars. The real difference is height and flexibility:

The 925 is about one inch taller, giving a little more room for water-bath processing a single layer without the lid.
That extra inch means the 925 fits four half-gallon jars — the 921 cannot.
The 925 weighs about 19 lbs empty; the 921 about 18 lbs empty.

You'll need the 925 if you want to can half-gallon jars of grape juice or apple cider. If half gallons are not important to you, the 921 does the same job.

  • 910 4-5 regular quart jars  ·  3-4 wide mouth quart jars
  • 915 7 regular quart jars  ·  7 wide mouth quart jars
  • 921 7 regular quart jars  ·  7 wide mouth quart jars
  • 925 7 regular quart jars  ·  7 wide mouth quart jars
  • 930 14 regular quart jars  ·  14 wide mouth quart jars
  • 941 19 regular quart jars  ·  17 wide mouth quart jars

  • 910 7 regular pints  ·  5 wide mouth pints  ·  single layer
  • 915 9-10 regular pints  ·  7-8 wide mouth pints  ·  single layer
  • 921 18 regular pints  ·  16 wide mouth pints  ·  double stack
  • 925 18 regular pints  ·  16 wide mouth pints  ·  double stack
  • 930 18 regular pints  ·  16 wide mouth pints  ·  double stack
  • 941 32 regular pints  ·  30 wide mouth pints  ·  double stack

For safe home canning, use a pressure canner at least 10 quarts in liquid capacity that holds four quart jars upright — that's the USDA minimum.

Do not use small 6–8 quart pressure cookers that only fit a few pint jars. These are not USDA-approved for canning and cannot maintain the temperature consistency required for food safety.

The All American 910 is the smallest USDA-compliant pressure canner in the lineup. It holds 4 quart jars or 7 pint jars — perfect for small kitchens, apartment canning, or beginners who want to start without a big commitment.

The All American 930 (30 qt) and All American 941 (41.5 qt) are built for serious volume — ideal for large gardens, homesteads, or anyone canning in bulk.

The 930 holds 14 quart jars or 18 pints per load.
The 941 holds 19 quart jars or 32 pints per load.

Note: these larger models may be too heavy for glass-top stoves and can overhang standard burners. Verify stove compatibility before purchasing.
